Quick Answer
For a comfortable gaming and work setup, place your Junji Ito XXL mouse pad so it covers the full width of your keyboard and mouse, with the artwork facing you and the edges aligned with your desk.
Why Size Matters
An XXL mouse pad (roughly 35 x 16 inches) gives you a consistent surface for both keyboard and mouse, eliminating the need for a separate pad. This reduces wrist strain and keeps your setup looking clean.
If your desk is smaller than the pad, you can let the pad overhang slightly, but make sure the mouse area stays flat. If your desk is larger, position the pad to leave room for a drink or other items.
Setup Steps
- Measure Your Desk: Measure your desk width and depth. Compare with the pad's dimensions (35 x 16 inches) to ensure it fits. If the pad is larger, plan how to position it. Check that at least the keyboard and mouse area are fully covered.
- Clean the Desk Surface: Wipe your desk to remove dust and debris. This prevents bumps under the pad and helps it stay flat. Use a dry or slightly damp cloth; let the desk dry completely.
- Place the Pad: Position the pad so the artwork is oriented correctly (usually with the top edge facing you). Align the left/right edges with your desk for a symmetric look. Ensure the pad is straight and not curled at the edges.
- Set Up Your Keyboard and Mouse: Place your keyboard in the center of the pad and your mouse to the side, within easy reach. Leave a little space between them for comfort. Your mouse should have enough room to move freely without hitting the keyboard.
- Flatten and Break In: If the pad has curled edges from shipping, roll it in the opposite direction or place a book on the edges overnight. This helps it lay flat. Avoid using the pad until it's fully flat to prevent uneven mouse movement.
